Lead the Next Artistic Chapter of Los Lupeños
Cashion Cultural Legacy (CCL) is seeking a collaborative and visionary Artistic Director to lead the artistic direction of Los Lupeños de San José and Los Lupeños Juvenil and provide artistic guidance across CCL’s programs.
Founded in 1969 by Dr. Susan V. Cashion and Ramón Morones Ortiz, Los Lupeños de San José is one of the country’s longest-standing Mexican folklórico dance companies. The next Artistic Director will honor this legacy while shaping the company’s continued artistic growth and strengthening its connection to the cultural knowledge and regional traditions of Mexican folklórico.
Lead the artistic vision, repertoire, rehearsals, and performance preparation of the adult and youth companies.
Teach, stage, research, and preserve Mexican folklórico repertoire with cultural and historical integrity.
Mentor dancers and emerging artistic leaders while maintaining high artistic standards.
Guide performances, productions, artist exchanges, and other artistic projects.
Collaborate with CCL’s Executive Director, artistic staff, Academy Director, musicians, guest artists, and community partners.
Build and maintain meaningful relationships with artists, culture bearers, and partners in the United States and Mexico.
The Artistic Director Will
Significant experience in Mexican folklórico as a performer, instructor, choreographer, rehearsal director, or artistic leader.
Deep knowledge of folklórico technique, repertoire, music, costuming, cultural context, and regional traditions.
Strong teaching, choreography, leadership, and dancer-development skills, including experience working with youth.
Professional proficiency in English and Spanish.
A collaborative leadership style and commitment to culturally grounded artistic practice.
Availability for in-person work in San José, including evening and weekend rehearsals, performances, and occasional travel.
We Are Looking For Someone With
Compensation & Benefits
$80,000 - $95,000 annually, plus medical and dental coverage with CCL contributions toward premiums, paid holidays, sick leave, and professional development support.
